Tiktok is one of the fastest growing platforms. I want to understand the thought process behind the product. ## Notes (The notes here were based from 1 interview only. This will be updated actively.) * Shou Chew * Interned at Facebook * Harvard Business School * Invested on Tiktok and become CEO when it needed to scale. * From Singapore * 40 years old and a father of 2 * Company's mission: "Inspire creativity and bring joy." * Technology * Tiktok is deployed on top of Oracle in Virginia and Singapore. * Governance * A subsidiary of ByteDance () * Half of the investors on the cap table are global such as Blackrock, Sequoia Capital, and many others. * Compliance * Tiktok has US, UK, and Chinese versions to follow strict media laws. * Prevent children from being addicted to scrolling on Tiktok but this law is not available in the US. * Tiktok provides quarterly transparency report of data requests made by government agencies around the world. * Tiktok doesn't accept political ads * If below 13 years old, the user has a restrictive version of Tiktok. * There's also a tool to manage your kid's account. * Tiktok has a messaging if you spend to much on the platform * For You page - a window to explore a whole new world \--- ❤️ Thank you so much for reaching this far.
