Islas de Gigantes

Hi there! 👋 I’m @benjtupas and welcome to another Travel PH82 Guide 🇵🇭 where I write DIY and budget-friendly guides for group and solo travelers on how to visit all 82 provinces of the Philippines!

For today’s guide, let’s virtually explore Islas de Gigantes in the province of Iloilo!

Islas de Gigantes is a beautiful island-hopping spot located in the province of Iloilo, the home court of Ilonggos. Ilonggos speak like they are reciting poetry with an accent that's so wavy. I'm very familiar coz I'm an Ilonggo but based in Bacolod City in the province of Negros Occidental. 😆

This was supposed to be a solo travel but my relatives in the province insisted to join this trip. 😆 No regrets though. It was a very well-spent trip with the family and Jean, our new friend. ✌️

We called ourselves "Buwis Buhay Members" or BBM. (Just to be clear, we're not siding with any political parties. ✌) You'll see why on day 3. 😆

Let's get to the guide!

Going There

✈️ Book a flight to Iloilo International Airport via Cebu Pacific

🚗 Drive to Carles - Carles is the jump-off spot going to Islas de Gigantes - This is a 3-hour road trip so ready your earphones and shows on Netflix

If you're a solo traveler, I booked our island hopping tour with Gigantes Island Tours and Services on Facebook. You can seek assistance from them on how to commute from the airport going to Carles.

Another option is to book the tours via Klook. Join Klook if you haven't joined yet and get a P250 discount after you sign up. Sign-up here.

Day 1: Arrival and Relax at Solina Beach Resort

We booked beautiful and classy "Kamalig" cabins at Solina Beach Resort via Klook (book here). You can also do it directly via their official website.

The cabins look like a hotel inside. From what I heard, this is the best resort in Carles.

Aside from the glamping experience, Solina Beach Resort has so much to offer:

  • Gym and recreational areas They have billiards, pingpong table, table football, and darts.

  • Swim at their private beach The sunset is so beautiful. Promise! 🥹

  • Night swimming The pool looks great at night

  • Angga Restaurant They serve delicious food. You'll also get free breakfast here.

  • View Deck Tower

  • Morning run The resort is so huge and relaxing to run

  • Tangke Lagoon (The El Nido of Iloilo)

  • Antonia Beach

  • Bantigue Island

  • Tinagong Dagat

  • Pulupandan Islet

Just eat dinner at Angga Restaurant in Solina Beach Resort.

Day 3: Go Home

Book a late return flight so you can still visit these areas on your way back to the airport.

📍 Stairway to Heaven in San Rafael - We all climbed this very high and scary stairs on top of a hill. - I hate to be a killjoy but be very careful. There's no handrails and 1 wrong move, you'll fall from the top of the hill. I hope they already added safety features now especially for old people and kids. - Hence, we called ourselves Buwis Buhay Members mainly because of this activity. 😆 📍 Dragon Fruit Farm - You can roam around the farm and buy dragon fruit shake.

You’ll pass by these places on the way to Solinas Beach Resort from the airport and vice versa.

That's it. My family and Jean offered so much energy. Thanks for the fun trip, fam! 🙏
